Residence de retraite Au Benaise, St-Antoine, NB

New residence and special care home for elderly people accommodating 55 residents, including rooms, medical and administrative offices, a day care center, common areas, a chapel, and a dining room with a commercial kitchen. The project was built on a single level to simplify universal accessibility. Designed of four wings grouped around a central entrance, the building’s size and architectural details were chosen to respect the scale and heritage character of the local residential architecture. The facility offers an atmosphere that closely resembles the residents’ own homes, with units opening onto individual patios. This concept is supported by the building’s layout, landscaping, walking paths, and community garden. Several sustainable development features are also present: healthy interior materials (low in VOCs), extensive use of natural light and energy-efficient lighting, and an exterior cladding made from recycled wood.
