A new 55 person senior residence, including medical and administrative offices, a day care center, common areas, a chapel and a dining room with a commercial kitchen. All spaces are located on the ground floor to facilitate barrier-free circulation. It consists of four wings grouped around a central entrance, massing and architectural details have been selected to meet the scale and heritage of the local residential architecture. The building exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere helping the building’s residents feel at home. All the units overlook individual patios. The at-home concept is enhanced by the shape of the building, landscaping, walking trails and community garden. The building also incorporates many aspects of sustainable development such as: healthy indoor air quality (achieved using low VOC emitting materials), recycled wood siding and an abundance of natural lighting.
