This complex project involved the expansion and renovation of the kitchen and two dining halls at the Saint-Jean Garrison, located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Beyond the aesthetic refresh, the project increased storage and seating capacity, improved operational efficiency by eliminating circulation conflicts (between pedestrians and food delivery routes), and maximized energy efficiency by consolidating the dishwashing area—serving two service zones and two dining halls—into a single central location.
The project also included the modernization of lighting and HVAC systems, as well as the excavation of a complex under-slab tunnel network to replace all piping serving the kitchen equipment. The work was carried out over two and a half years in five successive phases to allow uninterrupted use of the facilities by the Department of National Defence (DND). The project achieved LEED CI Silver certification.
