This complex project comprised of the expansion and renovation of the kitchen and two dining rooms at the Saint-Jean Garrison, located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Beyond the aesthetic refurbishment, the project increased the storage capacity and seating, making daily operations more efficient by eliminating cross traffic (pedestrians vs delivery of goods) and maximizes energy efficiency by consolidating the dishwashing area into one central area, which serves two service areas and two dining rooms. The project also included lighting and HVAC modernization, as well as the excavation of an extensive and complex network of under-slab tunnels to replace all the piping for the kitchen equipment. The work was carried out over 2 1/2 years and five phases to allow the use of the premises without interruption by the DND. The project has obtained LEED CI Silver certification.
